North Adams’ Dave Sacco named new SteepleCats general manager

A tumultuous 2024 baseball season is now in the rearview mirror for the North Adams SteepleCats.

And to paraphrase a former NFL coach from New England, they are on to 2025.

“We’re going to press on and move forward with Dave [Sacco] acting as the GM,” SteepleCats president Tommy Nowlan said.

Sacco, a retired member of the North Adams Police Department and a longtime volunteer with the club, will take care of the off-the-field activities for the 2025 season.

“We’ve hosted probably a dozen kids over the years. Going down and helping out whenever someone needed a hand,” Sacco said. “I really got into it when we did the concession stand and painted the dugouts. I’ve been involved on and off in different capacities for quite a while.”

Sacco is a native of the Tunnel City and spent 32 years on the North Adams Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant.
